II. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: At 1900hrs, 15 June 2010 by President Ron Hindmarsh at Rusinak Realty in Colorado Springs, CO.
III. MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
IV. TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer’s report was read and approved.
· Ev briefed that as of the end of the last reporting period, 31 May 2010, the RC has $2,473 in the bank account with no overdue bills.
V. CORRESPONDENCE
· RC, via Ron, received Cadet Cory Tinsman’s (2010 Boxing Team captain) boxing award thank you note on behalf of cadet team for the statue and award -- He was the 195 lb national champ
· David took an action to get in touch with the National AOG on web site postings, etc. Will report at July meeting.
VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS
· Attaboy
§ Ron and Larry recommended a wooden USAFA pen set for Harvey LeCato’s service to the RC and grad community – Dan took the action for ordering the set from the National AOG
· Chapter Picnic – alternate location and date are TBD (early August)
§ Options: FamCamp, Broome’s residence
§ Dan will visit and get commitment date from Broome’s
· Monthly Luncheon
§ Next luncheon is at 11 Aug 2010 at Jack Quinn’s.
§ 9 June 2010: Maj Gen Pete Todd’s (’59) Desert 1 presentation (Exec Asst to CJCS, General David Jones) went over very well with attendees
§ We still need a 13 Oct 2010 speaker (option: invite Commandant as a possible speaker)
§ General Jim McCarthy penciled in for Nov 2010
§ Other luncheon notes:
- We’re always looking for candidates for monthly luncheon speakers
- Larry Bagley and Ron Hindmarsh suggested we invite West Point grads to luncheons
· Tri-Service Golf Tournament: 18 Jun 2010
§ Purpose: Win Gilbert F. Rindahl Trophy, symbolic of golf “supremacy” among the Service Academy Alumni Organizations of Colorado
§ Ev Vaughn spoke to Elaina Rankin at USAFA Endowment and Kerry re: golf tournaments – both provided useful information on fundraising and logistics
§ Where: Eisenhower Silver Course
§ Shotgun start for the foursome scramble format is at 0800 hrs
§ Lunch will be served at approximately 1300 hrs
§ Numerous other prizes/penalties for play deserving of either
§ Harvey to send announcements
§ Organizer: Al Blumberg (‘68) is the USAFA Point of Contact and Tourney Chairperson (719-331-4343; 719-633-6965; ablum68@hotmail.com)
· Cadet Fundraiser Golf Tournament
§ After all preliminary planning, Tom briefed that the date would and should change
§ Postpone to Aug – Sep 2010 since Wings of Blue (WoB - primary recipients) are on travel on the originally planned date
§ Other date options: 20 or 27 Aug (both dates are Friday’s)
§ Pros: gives us extra advertising time
§ Need to determine what is the real economic potential of the tournament – raise entry fees to make substantial contributions to WoB
§ We will gain funding primarily through corporate sponsorships, not team registrations
§ Upfront postage, seed money to give to Tom Hayden
§ Need membership to step up to assist, not all just board members
§ Possible advertising – skydiving wind tunnels, sky dive clubs
§ Tom to organize a planning breakfast to discuss further
· Outstanding Boxing Award
§ Plan to go on email broadcast, web site
§ Larry and Dave took action to co-draft the message
§ RC will have announcements ready by the RC General meeting Jan 2011 and push for award fund raising there as well
§ Mike recommended we consider PayPal for donations
- The intent is to make it easier for members and to allow use of credit cards
- There is a small percentage fee for every transaction
- Put PayPal option on web site for dues, donations (Dan took action to investigate)
§ $1,500 already committed towards $10,000 award for perpetuity
· Future Joint Service Academy events
§ Ron to contact Steve Shambach
§ Plan is to get together for WP game with West Pointers with a big screen
§ 6 Nov 2010 West Point game
§ Other Joint service academy get-togethers
- Dan suggested we limit invites to officers; otherwise this could get too big
- Other potential events: board mtgs, Wing Open, luncheons, football, picnic

VII. OLD BUSINESS
· RC AOG Coin: Ron requested interest in an RC coin so that it could be presented to guest speakers and friends of the RC
§ Took action to investigate costs
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
· Christmas party on 11 Dec 2010 at Quinns -- all agreed
· Need Airport Greeters for in-processing
§ Openings on 23 June, 1800, 1900, 2000 hrs
§ Same for prep school (13 Jul)
§ Need help on 24 June with assistants (0700-1100)
· Honor and Ethics for BCT
§ Grads to teach honor and ethics classes during BCT
§ Larry to send out requests and dates
· Nominating committee for next election in Fall
§ RC Board Members to call potential candidates
§ Looking to add some diversity to board membership
· Distinguished AOG Chapter Award
§ Ron to check on rqmts for the award
§ RC agreed to focus on coming years, not current year
IX. OLD BUSINESS:
· SkySox Game
§ RC looking into a date for a home Sky Sox baseball game – 7 Aug 2010 is locked in
o WPers invited
o Ron Hindmarsh to invite Steve Shambach
§ Sky Sox terrace offers great opportunity to watch game and talk with other RCers
